my beach evening sweater is done
i'm calling it a sweater, even though halfway through the project it looked like it was turning into a dress. i know i said it was supposed to be an oatmeal pullover. it's not, after all. surprisingly, in the end it's a pattern i made up myself. it was quite a bumby road, as with many things i make. i tend to start projects totally inspired and then realize if i had given the whole idea some more forethought i could have avoided a lot of mistakes. but i managed to tweak the pattern, made some more calculations (me and maths? uh oh...) and in the end - i LOVE it.
it has a very relaxed fit, but the short sleeves with the ribbed edge and the waist shaping give it a feminine feel.
now i do hope i get the pattern together in case i want to make another one. i'll have to go through all my crazy notes and try to remember the corrections i made.
in short: this sweater is knit in a round, from the bottom up, with rib edging. once you reach the raglan shaping, knit back and forth. the same is done with the sleeves. more project notes are on ravelry. did i mention i love ravelry? otherwise i would never have remembered when i started with this project. january 10th. quite a quick knit, considering the hiccups...
sorry for the overindulgence with the photos. i just couldn't get enough. not just of the sweater. but the sun! oh, the sun shining through the windows - glorious! i'm hoping somebody will take some photographs of me wearing the sweater on an actual beach soon.
