this project started as a knitalong with rachel of house full of jays. we updated each other via instagram about our progress, and amazingly enough, after both casting on 7 months ago, and both working on other projects in between, we ended up at the same stage last week with just the last color edging to be knit.
i'm happy with the shawl, the yarn (malabrigo sock) is so soft and the drape is perfect. it works very well as a scarf too. i dare say though that i love rachel's color choice a bit more, and crazy as it might sound, i am thinking about casting on a second color affection one day, with two shades of blue and a mustard colored yarn. all details about this shawl can be found on my ravelry project page.
thanks to my sweet little boy for taking the photos of mama in her new shawl!
as for reading, i downloaded a few samples on my kindle and am still mulling over which books to download. many of you asked about "escaping into the open" by elizabeth berg, which i shared last time. it's not a new book, it's been a few years since it has first been published but i believe it is her only non-fiction book, which is why some of you might not have heard of it. it is full of wonderful insights about the writing life and has many writing exercises, too. i can recommend it to all of you interested in reading about writing.
and now it's your turn. what are you knitting and reading? joining ginny's yarn along again this week.
joining frontier dreams this week as well.

sylvia it is beautiful!!! I love your colors and the way it curls on the edges :) You did a wonderful job and now we wait for Rachel to finish hers :)
I think your color affection (which I love worn as a scarf!!!) is fabulous.....and I can't imagine a better color choice.
It's just simply lovely! I love the colour affection pattern and I think you picked great colours :) I have a friend with a CA WIP right now who is doing the YO mod and they really like it so far.
Absolutely beautiful! I love your color choices.
Wow! It is beautiful!
It's beautiful Sylvia and so are you! I think the ends curling up just add to it. Gosh, now I want to knit one too.
It looks great! I don't think there are any bad color combinations for CA. Every single one I've seen is amazing!
Beautiful! I don't think I've ever seen a shawl using this pattern that I didn't like, I really should get round to having a go at it one day lol
I love the mossy green colours in the wool you've used The finished shawl looks great, must be nice to have it finished so you can wear it :)
I love the shape of that, something between a scarf and a shawl.
Oh I love it! I love the colors you used too. Mine curls also, although with lots of wear it seems to have smoothed out a bit. Next time I knit it I will be doing it a bit differently.
Beautiful shawl!
Oh, and, I wasn't sure if you did make it back to my blog, but I believe you were wondering how the wedding shawl for my future SIL came out. Here's the link to my FP Friday post on it: http://wifemomknitter.wordpress.com/2014/03/28/fo-friday-4/
Wow, it looks fantastic! It must feel great having finished it.
Beautiful! I love the colours you used.
Perhaps one day I will join the legions of people who have made a colour affection :)
I'm going to have to knit one of those shawls! Every single one I've seen has just been gorgeous. You chose great colors for yours!
Wow that is so beautiful! I love the colors you chose, and I really like it all snuggled up as a scarf too. It's really lovely.
Beautiful shawl! It looks perfect for spring.
So, so beautiful!
I love the colours you have chosen.
Have a lovely week.
