the long weekend that was

i actually shouldn't be calling this a long weekend, it was more than that. we had the whole first week of january off, which made for a lovely transition into the new year.
we decided to drive up to the (nearest, not super-high) mountains for a few days. it was a lovely trip, but the temperatures were too low for snow, and it was so foggy that most of the mountains were hidden by the clouds.
but it was a good time, a time with no wireless - hence little screen distraction and lots and lots of reading, perfect cups of coffee (that top one is missing the milk that i always have with it, i just liked the contrast of the black coffee against the table and that would have been lost with a milk-y coffee), hiking with the baby infront of me, stopping to notice little things. taking self-portraits.

we came back on saturday and spent the evening with friends, good conversations and good wine.

and today, more friends, with children running and playing all over our place, and a simple but delicious potato soup.

i'm feeling ready for the week, the first "real" week of the year. how was your weekend?

linking up with amanda.

p.s.: if you want to link up with our sketchy sunday challenge, you still can for beginnings, or next sunday, for "hands"!

I see Three Junes on your side table -- such a good read. Sounds like you had a wonderful break, especially the baby wearing wandering walk.
So glad to be in the pages of Kindred with you. xoxo Jenn

It's nice to hear you had such a wonderful week, unplugging is such a nice break.

Oh, and thanks for sharing the self photo, you are so beautiful and that is a great smile.

Congratulations on your piece in Kindred, I look forward to reading it. I wish I had the talent to write, but I am thankful I can read!

Look, how the clovers are making their way through the moss and fallen leaves and acorns already that early in the year! How impressive!

An intriguing discussion is definitely worth comment. I do
think that you ought to write more on this subject
matter, it might not be a taboo matter but generally people do not discuss these issues.
To the next! Cheers!!
