first day of summer

yesterday was the first day of summer (well, at least here in the northern hemisphere) and as much as i had looked forward to celebrating it with a picnic, ice-cream and/or popsicles, cold homemade lemonade, walking barefoot in the grass.... this is what we got: a (not cold, but) grey day with rain just lingering around the corner. so to the playground we went, as every day. and we bought some fresh flowers. and then we celebrated indoors, with flowers inside and a lovely snack and a hot cup of tea.

it would be easy to start complaining about the weather here in northern germany. i sometimes do. but it's a fact that i still love living in this place. moving somewhere with just a few less rain days a year? no thanks :)

also, while i was looking through my foto files of the last weeks i saw many many sun-filled photos. and this is just the beginning. wait for july. and august. and hey! september (more on that later).

Happy Summer! We celebrated by deciding at 7 pm to round up the kids and head to the beach to make s'mores. I love your blue sky photo. It has inspired me to play with the sky tomorrow. I hope ours is blue.

Very sweet, how you created summer-feelings indoors. Those warm up the heart, too, don't they. And little Spencer most certainly made your day.
