from the archives: travel journal

this travel journal project was published in the spring 2009 issue of Scrap Art Zine, i wrote an article with it about scrapbooking "on the road", how i made this a holiday-album and traveljournal combination. i took the blank album, some pens and a little bag with travel-themed embellishments and tools (small pair of scissors, glue stick) everywhere we went. so i sat at airports, bus stations, on motel beds and in cafés cutting, glueing, writing...

i love how this journal has actually been there. it was created there, right on the spot so i was able to capture the spirit and feel of this amazing trip last october. here are a few new york pages i made. i decided to print out the photos at home, giving me the opportunity to make multi-photo layouts with the help of photoshop and use as many photos as possible. the rest of the album was made on the road.

I really LOVE this idea!! A travel Journal/scrapbook made along the way!! I always put stuff from trips in a bag ( ticket stubs, brochures, little stuff i like) fully expecting to put it all together when I get home and it never happens... So I will be using this idea on my very next trip!

What a wonderful idea! Assembling items and sticking them right on the pages on the very day or at the very moment of your travel-experience That makes your scrapbook so very expressive.

where did you find/buy the journal from?

hey lindsay lou! it was a blank scrapbook album from 7 gypsies. i bought it at a local store. you can also find it online. it has blank pages in it and i added some on the way. the cover is really firm cardboard which was perfect for traveling!

Hi Sylvia, luckily i found your Blog entry, because so i get the chance to tell you a big THANK YOU! I read your article in the Scrap Art zine Mag and as a beginner scrapbooker I took your idea and did a scrapbook on the road on our honeymoon in 2009. Its still my favorite album and I love it!
