this painting has been at least 4 paintings before it became what it is now. with every completed step i knew it wasn't going to stay the way it was, every time it was merely in a different stage of development that was good for the time being – until i'd feel like picking up this canvas again with a new vision for it.
first it started as a monochrome orange textured forest scene. then a few weeks later it became a colorful foliage landscape. months later it transitioned in to a more summery and cheerful landscape instead of the fall setting. but honestly landscapes are not necessarily my thing right now (i don't think they've ever really been). that's probably why i just couldn't be happy with any of the previous attempts to finish this painting.
without even letting that last landscape dry completely i reworked this painting into what it is now. this is the final version.
thanks for stopping by the ant hill, we hope you're having a happy and creative day!

Wow!! Love it!
I really like it. I made a card today using watercolor pencils, my first time picking them up since the new year began, it felt great.
@ Kim: Thanks!
@ Tracey: I'm glad you had a chance to draw/paint today! That's how I felt when I did this painting too, it was a good feeling to have paint on my fingers again!
