a sweet handmade gift

everybody in my family knows how much i love handmade gifts. when i was pregnant with spencer, my then 14-year-old niece threw a baby shower for me. i later learned that she had written on the invites that i would be most happy about handmade presents. 80% of the gifts i received on that party were handmade, and all of them still much loved and used!

a couple of weeks ago, our 11-year-old nephew handed us this beautiful tealight holder, which he made himself, assisted by his father, who is a carpenter. even though i am allergic to birch pollen, i do love birch trees, particularly their bark, the black and white, the different textures and the papery peel.
and we love to light candles and tealights all year round, so this was such a fitting and personal gift for us!

are there any handmade presents you received that you especially cherish?

I adore birch trees too. That's a lovely gift!

I often wear earrings my niece made me several years ago. Every time I put them on I think of her!

What a great gift! I love the versatile design. Handmade really is the best and from family and friends... Even better.

These are completely beautiful! They'd be a delight to receive from a store, but the fact they are handmade makes them all the more precious. Just wonderful!

Wow, there are beautiful!

I LOVE handmade gifts. Recently a knitted scarf from my gratitude buddy was received. And I have some pretty amazing handmade gifts from my hubby - I think the wood carving of me when I was pregnant is the favourite.
