joining the yarn along

hey there, it's a been a while since i joined the link-up, the only reason being that i actually had nothing on my needles...

i have 1 and a bit skeins left of fibre company's terra yarn with which i made the little cardi. i searched so many projects on ravelry, not being able to decide what i should knit. somehow, i didn't want it to be the classic hat and baby booties. the yarn is so so soft and i personally like the colour a lot, so i started browsing scarves and cowls. i now decided to cast on the darkside cowl and just knit as far as i get. who knows, cooler days will probaby even allow me to wear it in summer matching my baby's cardigan.

i've ordered a stack of books (watch out for a summer reading list post soon) but for now in the evenings i have been re-reading Active Birth : The New Approach to Giving Birth Naturally. it's an awesome book with great photographs (if you like birthing photos, that is!)

my friend danielle sent me a gorgeous little mini-book she made while she was pregnant with her third baby, the "focus journal". it's full of lovely quotes about labour and birth and helpful tipps. i love the fact that it is handmade and that she passed it on to me. i always keep it near me.
not long now to my due date, and i hope the junebug doesn't keep us waiting for too long!

i'm joining ginny's yarn along. what are you knitting and reading?

love the little book your friend made, such a sweet idea :) I think a cowl would be perfect and you're right you can go as far as the yarn takes you.

What a fun "matching" knit... Can't wait to see it. I loved the Bluebear book, if you couldn't tell... let me know if you read any more of them!

I started the dark side cowl once - or did I just bookmark it? Anyway, I hope yours comes out beautifully!

The idea of a focus journal for labour and birth is inspired! What a beautiful gift!
I really must get around to knitting a cowl one of these days. I keep promising myself one :)

I made something very similar for my last labour, with meditations, reminders, pictures - I must dig it out again for this time!
