yarn along - and what i finished!

through the yarn along posts it might seem i cast on a lot, but never finish, which is why i try to weave in some finished projects into the link up from time to time, even though i am not technically knitting them anymore. so as i mentioned i finished two projects during our vacation week, both quick and easy baby knits. first the pants i had cast on already at home. i stuck with the stockinette stitch and then threw in a little garter stitch with a contrasting colour at the end. i love how they turned out.

and this adorable little cardigan, from the book More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts it's a very well written pattern, so easy to follow. it does involve seaming at the end of the project, which i'm not very fond of, but this cardi is so wee i didn't really mind that much. the yarn is The Fibre Company's Terra in the colour Redwood. now i really need to go and get some buttons, there are still some missing on this piece as well.

and what a bonus, the cardigan and the pants go very well together too!

there is nothing on my needles right now (gaaahh! can you believe it?) but i have one skein of that gorgeous terra yarn left, so Ravelry here i come... not sure what i might knit with one skein except for a hat or socks/booties. any ideas?

the little man and i have been reading some farm related books and a cute book for children about local birds. my husband and i have become very enthusiastic bird watchers on our holiday, so i guess there will be more reading in that direction in the future!
joining ginny's yarn along again today. what are you knitting and reading?

Oh, single skeins can be such a challenge for me. I am curious to see what you pick. The outfit is precious and compliments each other quite well.

So cute! A little baby hat would be adorable too, but then I have a thing for hats and beanies...

We have kookaburras, magpies, rosellas and cockatoos around here. Plus some smaller birds like mini minors.

oooh cute cute cute, I've looked at that book More last minute knitted gifts and the first one but only online so was reluctant to buy either as did not know if I would use - but cardigan is great so might take a risk and buy it. cheers

Sooo sweet! I really love the little pants! My husband put up a bird feeder over the winter. My new hobby is sitting at the kitchen table watching them. I'm getting very good at identifying whose who out there :-)

The outfit is so cute, I love that bunt orange colour. Hmm what to do with single skeins a matching hat or bootees perhaps?

The books are adorable and your knits are simply gorgeous! I need to take another look at More Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I missed that cardi. Btw I absolutely adore that abc print. Did you make that?

Your finished pants look lovely. So good to finish a project.

We love birdwatching too. My nine year old has started to outstrip me in certain areas of my bird knowlege, which is definitely a good thing!
