on monday morning on my way to work i saw a box on a bench by the roadside with piles of books put there to take along. i just quickly scanned the contents of the box and found a folded map of some region in germany (i think one i've never been to). i just thought to myself it might come handy once i decide to try some mixed media again.
just a day later, there was a window of time in which the little man was happily playing with his duplos, and i had finished a major part of the housework, so i got some blank cards and envelopes, the washi tape that i bought together with my friend anja and haven't had a chance to play with, and some paints.
i cut out random shapes from the map, added some details with paint here and there, and finished everything off with some strips of washi tape. i love quick, creative and satisfying diy projects!
music sheets and old book pages are other favourites of mine to use in paper crafts. i'm now on the lookout for other craft projects that use washi tape. that tape is so versatile and i love how easy it is to tear and apply.
have you ever made something using washi tape???

Such pretty tape! It's called washi tape? Well, I just learned something! I have seen pretty tape before, but didn't know what it was called. Now I have a serious case of tape envy! :)
So clever! I would never have thought this idea up at all. Love the bright colors!
These are beautiful! I've really been itching to try something with washi tape. Thanks for sharing this great idea!

I love how you've incorporated maps! :) I've never used washi tape, but I have admired it from afar for a while now....

This looks so great! Love the combination!
It's such funny timing that you should mention washi - today a new trends post went up on Aussie Scrap Source with a page I'd done using loads of washi :) - http://aussiescrapsource.typepad.com/aussie_scrap_source/2012/03/2012-trends-washi-tape.html
Fun stuff!
These are great. I've had my eye on several washi tapes for some time, but haven't purchased any. Didn't think to use if for cards. Have seen it used for taping gifts or taping (temporarily) art to a wall.
You are so clever! These are adorable.
