one of yesterday's projects was altering a coat a friend gave me. it's an off-white coat which is a dangerous color for me. today i already found a spot i got on there, this is before i even got to wear it the first time. it was spotless when she handed it to me...
what i needed to do was letting the sleeves out a bit. my friend had taken them in since she's a lot shorter than me. this might sound like an easy thing for you, but with the little amount of altering i've done yet i was really nervous about this project. i'm done with the first sleeve and am quite proud i made it so far.
we also have a really BIG project going on right now:
while i was doing the alteration my hubby was busy prepping the living room floor in order to put hardwood flooring in. we removed all the furniture and ripped out the carpet late last week. it'll be a lot of hard work till it's done (and noise! i did the alterations with ear protection on...) but i'm very excited about getting wood floors.
what are your current projects? do you also have any home renovations going on?

So excited for you to have your hardwood wood floors. I have one room left to redo the flooring and the is sitting in boxes acclimating to the room right now. Then I am hoping to redo a little painting.
What are you putting down?
We are in between renovation projects. Somehow we seem to always be in this state, tools and materials lying around. It’s a wonder when the hallway is empty for two weeks in a row without tools scattered on the floor.
I think you are very brave in altering the coat. I really can’t sew and am thinking of making it a challenge for myself to learn some basic sewing skills this year. I put 9 buttons on a carnival coat two days ago, it took me 4 hours, a bleeding finger and a lot of *#.....#!*!!*!!!*!!
But Carnival itself is great and the buttons are still holding so I’m proud and happy.
We're redoing a bathroom - the one the kids use- hope it gets done soon since they're all piled into our bathroom... We also need to finish redoing the livingroom but ran into a snag, and it's still not finished. I know it's a stressful and loud time, but you're right - you'll appreciate the end result.
New floors how exciting!!! I bet it will be so much easier to clean :)
@ Tracey: We found a beautiful Hickory that compliments the hallway and kitchen tile perfectly.
Funny you're in the same stage of having the boxes laying around, I'll be thinking of you when I stumble over them :)
awesome! hardwood floors are the best! we never want to live without them anymore, and would put them in any place we move into that doesn't have them.
i also like the coat, make sure to take a photo of yourself in it when it's done!
The coat is beautiful, and your altering looks perfect!
We are already excited about seeing your new flooring!
