selfmade toddler toys: domino

here is another project i shared in the german scrapbooking magazine Scrap Art Zine. i have to admit that the original idea to make a domino game came from danielle, when i asked her for tipps on my series about off-the-page scrapbooking projects made for kids. this one is pretty self-explanatory. i guess ebay is a good source for wooden blocks. we got a whole bag of used blocks from some friends. i edited the photos in Photoshop so that they had the right size to fit on half of the blocks.

the search for fitting patterned paper was the most fun part. i found some really cute paper by My Little Shoebox and Jillibean Soup with cars and birdhouses and other objects just the right size (3x3 cm) for the blocks i was using. the suns and clouds are Love, Elsie from a few years back.

i used regular glue to stick the papers onto the wooden blocks. it's an afternoon project once you've got all the photos and papers together and: success! it's being played with almost every day. makes this crafty mama very happy!

What a great idea. I can't wait to do this once we pass the 'everything in the mouth' phase!

Oh this is great! I love it. Once my girl stops eating paper off everything ;-) I'll have to try this!
