product photography before and after

wire heart ornament - for sale -

i'm sure you've already noticed that i've been in a "wire art making phase" this past week. my parents in law have this awesome vintage bench where the teal paint is coming off. it makes for the coolest photography background, doesn't it?

here are some ornaments i have shown you already, but i took new photos of them with this background.  i included the before and after version of when i used a basic dark background vs. using this teal distressed wood look.

what do you think of the teal background?
do you think it makes the picture interesting or does it distract from the object too much?

on the one hand i'm thinking along the lines of artistic photography, on the other hand i'm thinking of how the pictures come across for product photography to list items on etsy. i'm really curious to read your comments and opinions!

I really like them on the teal background - I think it makes them stand out lovely, and reflects beautifully with the beads.

How interesting. That makes an enormous difference. They are beautifully showcased on the teal bench. The dark is too shadowy. The ornaments get lost a little. The oblique angles in the teal photos draw you in while still allowing you to get a good view of the product.

servus Simona!!

the teal background is amazing. apart from the fact that teal is quite an "in" colour at the moment, i really like the weathered look. it gives the product photo a lot more character!

I'm with Sylvia and love the color. I didn't know it was the 'in' color. I received a teapot in teal for Christmas and am now slowing painting all my kitchen chairs the same color.

Oh yes, it really looks even better than it already did before!

I think the teal makes the colour pop! Go for it x

Teal is much better than the darker background. The teal adds to how light and airy the items are.

Not only is the teal textured background better, but the lighting is improved in the teal photos - that may be because of the color of the background or time of day you took, where you took the photo, etc. I think it helps your artwork.

Beautiful wire shapes and the teal background does a wonderful job of showing them off.

I love that teal colour! I think it works much better for the background actually. The other is just too dark and... bleh.

I love the teal background! As everyone else has said, it makes the piece pop. But also, if I was scrolling through etsy results, I would click on something with a bright, happy (my favorite color!) backdrop before one with a dark and dreary backdrop. So good work there! :) And how do you put the little "aa" watermark on your photos? I would like to do that to mine. (with my own logo of course!) Thanks, Monica
