as she falls asleep, i inhale against her head. it's the scent of an exploring child: a mixture of sand, sweat and ice cream. i run my fingers through her curls, now that she lets me. i bury my nose in them. "i love you, i love you so much". a whisper, a promise.
i walk over to him, and kneel down. sitting and staring, for just a few short moments, i memorize his full lips, his sun-kissed arms and the twitching of his fingers. i lean forward, kissing his eyelids and these incredibly long lashes. "i love you, i love you so much". a whisper, a promise.
