things we do after nap (or after breakfast)

meg of sew liberated as a little series going on this week: "things we do after nap". it's hopefully going to turn into a nice collection (with all the comments and other ideas added to the flickr group) of interesting toddler activities.

the space concious and 'keeping it simple'-me feels drawn to projects and activities that don't involve a whole new load of materials needing storage space (which we don't have). and also considering the season we're in right now i like to focus on indoor activities that create a manageable amount of mess.

some of the things that spencer enjoys a lot at the moment are matching and sorting games. we have several wooden puzzles of which the transportation one is his favourite (he's so into vehicles, it's unbelievable). i bought this wooden rainbow matching and sorting game from the etsy shop Blackbeary Mountain several months ago and it does keep his attention for quite a while. it's great for learning the colours too and i feel it might make a nice addition to his wooden play kitchen one day.

if you have a toddler at home, is there any kind of activity you'd like to share that is enjoyed?

Back when Sophia was a toddler she liked to make cookies after naptime - it is messy, fun, and they are ready to eat pretty quick (think Butterkekse or shortbread). Also: stringing beads and making our own play doh.

That looks like a great game! And I love the idea for this series! (I just wish my little girl took naps...)

Love the sorting game. Wow. Thanks for the link.... Great concept of pausing to reflect on after-nap time. Such a sweet, rested happy part of our day.

I think the sorting game is great and just what we need here too.
