clothes swap finds

so, yes - as promised, a little fashion (-related) post. i quite like looking at fashion blogs, or rather blogs in which people post about their outfits (here's a new(ish) one, have you seen it? raspberry in heels). it's interesting, and i'm usually inspired to go beyond the normal t-shirt and jeans combination. in the last months, i've been in love with scarves. i find that if i do turn to jeans and t-shirt, a colourful scarf makes the difference and very often also makes my day.

in the above picture, everything visible i wear is from a recent clothes swap party i had at my house. the green cardi is from a clothes swap last year. i think clothes swap parties are on of the best inventions ever! i once comitted to not buying new clothes, it only lasted 6 months..., but in general i'm convinced that there are enough used and to-be-thrifted clothes around to dress us all up :)

have you ever had a clothes swap party? what do you prefer, new or thrifted?
and here is another reminder: you can still enter our giveaway to win a custom illustration!

Cute outfit. You're right, scarves can definitely change your outfit and your mood.

I remember when buying from thrift stores and wearing "hand me downs" was so uncool, now it's like the thing to do. So far I haven't really found any clothes (our thrift stores are not as great as everyone else's apparently) but I have found some really cool jewelry.

Love the sweater! I have never been to a clothes swap party. Most of my clothes are thrifted. One of my favorite ways to spend a morning is at the local Goodwill browsing the racks.

I've never had a clothes swap, nor do I thrift shop, but after seeing so many cute outfits on these kind of posts I'm totally inspired to try!

I love, love the cardigan! I was just invited to a clothes swap and can't wait to go! I am a frequent vistior to our local consignment store, which has a wonderful selection of brand-name stuff I could never afford at retail. I love the idea of passing clothes on.

What a cute outfit! That scarf ties it all together.

My mom is always sending me boxes of (beautiful, hardly worn) baby clothes she found at thrift stores and garage sales. My daughter's wardrobe is gorgeous, and no one ever guesses it's about 85% thrifted.

Ah! Genius! I have done tons of swaps for kids but never occurred to me for adults. I love the idea. And your outfit is awesome.

as you know i hardly ever buy anything new. the garage sales and thrifts tore in the area are so great i really don't need to go into any retail stores.

your outfit is very cute, i love the green and purple combo. although i have a similar color cardigan i don't think it compares since mine doesn't have those nice and big buttons.
i don't have very many scarves. but i feel inspired to widen my collection!
