autumn glow

i leave the house early this morning, at an hour which usually sees me in the warm kitchen, with a coffee ready and a few minutes to myself. i take my bike, and the cold air is sharp on my face and fingers.

riding past the meadow i always try to imagine i'm not that much in surburbia but really much closer to country life. on this frosty morning, that picture forms easily in my mind. i stop for a moment, bending down to notice the details close to my boots. the sun just rising, letting the last of the leaves appear golden. every single leaf and blade of grass has a crystal rim.

back home, after oatmeal for breakfast, i bundle up the little ones and we head outside, to witness the magic together. the crunchiness of the frosty grass, the ice crystals, the glow of the sun causing a drip-drop in different corners of the garden. morning drifts into mid-morning. but the glow remains.

joining amanda at november prompt-a-day today. happy thursday!

There's something very romantic in cold and frost, if one views it the way you do.
