yarn along - blankets and gardening

oh, summer days! we've been spending time on grass, in water, on bicycles, on balconies, eating strawberries and drinking iced coffee... our little space here will see a few more post-free days for the next weeks.

remember that yarn i showed you the last time we joined the yarn along? well, i thought i might knit a fisherman's pullover with it, but it turns out it is far too bulky, i didn't like the feel of it for a pullover. so i cast on a garter stitch blanket instead (similar to this one, even though not for a baby...). i have plenty of grey yarn and am now thinking what other colour of stripes would go with it? an eggshell white? a dark yellow? even pink, if i dare?? oh the possibilities... i am open for suggestions!

reading-wise i'm still with the books on my summer reading list, only i have been browsing this book as well, it's really my favourite "gardening with kids" kind of book. so many cool ideas and lots of photos.

yarning along with ginny. what are you knitting and reading??

that is going to be one extra squishy blanket! love the color and I think a splash of stripes would make it very pretty :) Glad you are enjoying your summer!

It's going to make a great blanket and I vote for yellow as another stripe. :)
Summer is a lot of fun and I'm glad you are enjoying yours.

love the look of that yarn, squishy and soft! what if you chose colors of the sea - some blues, greys, greens, even a bit of white or off white?

that's a perfect color for contrasting with bright ones. i'm always for a juicy green, or mustard, or aqua. you could even do several accent colors toward the edge the blanket, that would be just gorgeous!

I'd go for contrasting colours as well. It really depends on where you want to use it but personally I would pair it with an acid green or orange, maybe even both but then maybe add some white or off white too...
