a sisterly yarn along

sylvia:
people following along our yarn along posts for the last weeks may hardly believe this: i finished a project and i finished a book! the milo vest for my junebug is done, she is wearing it already, i took photos of her in it and have a post about it in the works! i also finished the book Where'd You Go Bernadette.

i know Tracey you read it as well and wanted to "talk":) also anybody else who read it, tell me how did you like it? this is my opinion: i thought it was a funny and highly entertaining book, with a different kind of style of narration that i found very refreshing and amusing. i can certainly recommend reading it! there is only one thing that i found slightly strange and that confused me a bit (and that's for insiders): Bernadette's letter to her daughter in the very end of the book sounded a lot different from the letter she wrote to Prof. Jellinek. even though i "get" what she writes to the professor, it seemed like two different persons writing the respective letters. that was the only part of the book that seemed inconsistent to me, and stuck out as weird, especially after having finished the book and reading the last letter. but that's just a minor detail...

i now just started The Hunger Games, i know everybody seems to have read or watched it already. a friend of mine gave me her copy (and she's a huge fan!) so i'm looking forward to reading it. and ready to be cast on is the plain vest, once again a knit for my little girl.

simona:

i finished... no, almost finished the white hat i was working on. the crochet flowers and leaves are only attached with needles right now (tucked them away for the photo).

a few days ago i started a new hat just like that, but i made it too big for who it was intended at first. so another girl will get the second white hat, and i'll then have to still make another one a bit smaller. but i doubt it will be the same colors and design because i very quickly get tired of doing the same things all over. i almost regret having started another white hat. perhaps i'll change up the colors of the flowers, that might help make it more interesting again.

joining ginny again this week. what are you knitting/crocheting and reading?

Sylvia,

That is the exact impression I had when reading the book! I loved the first half and was completely disappointed in the second. My sister read the book too, and we thought the book must be written by two people. Maybe I'll write and ask!
PS- Loved the Hunger Games, the book is so much better than the movie.

Simona,
I'm sorry you are bored with white hats. I think adding a new color for the flower is perfect. Then, how about a red hat?!

That hat looks lovely.
Be careful with that book it's quite addictive, I end up reading the 3 twice in a row.
Thanks for commenting in my blog, you can translate it with google tool on the left top.

What a pretty hat! So spring-like. I finished the Hunger Games but need to move onto the second one. Want to get it finished before the movie comes out in November.

i still haven't cracked and read the hunger games (yet). but the milo, love it. need to knit something for my cousin (pregnant with a girl) and trying to decide between milo, puerperium...maybe both :)

The Hunger Games is definitely a good book - well I liked it when I read it :-) Granted...I didn't know it was a trilogy when I picked up the first book from the library...maybe I need to follow the hype better :-)

I love the Milo! I just finished one a few weeks ago (and I really need to get it into the mail before the little boy it was made for outgrows it...). The plain vest is lovely, too.

And Simona - that hat! It's gorgeous!

The colorway on the vest is gorgeous. I've seen many Milos that I'd like to knit one.

Love that hat! Super sweet. I also really liked the whole Hunger Games trilogy - if you end up enjoying it, you should try Divergent too!
