quick handmade gift idea: a knitted "vase warmer"

good morning! i'm sorry about the bad quality of the photo, but (forgetful me) only remembered to take a picture of the finished piece when i had already handed it over to the recipient. so i had to take a photo with my mobile phone...

i think this is a cute, simple and quick little gift. it feels wintery and - depending on the flowers you put in the vase - a little like coming spring too! here is a quick how-to:

it depends on the size of vase you have (i took a used mamelade glas, you don't see it anyway...) the yarn i used is quite thick and bulky. here again depending on what size you knit, just cast on about 30 stitches on double pointed needles and join to work in the round. carry on in stockinette stitch until your vase warmer has the desired length. then cast off and weave in the ends. the edges of the piece will roll in a little. done!

That is a cute idea and one I will be using! :)
It would make a great Christmas gift given with a vase of flowers.

this looks really nice, the tulips look great with a sweater on :)
i think i'll recycle an old knit pullover to do this, that way i won't have to knit.

@barefoot mama: i actually only told half the story on the post!
truth is, i wanted to make leg warmers, but halfway through the first i got sick of the project and knew i would never finish it, let alone make a second one, oh my!
so i just cast off and voilĂ , it was a vase warmer. LOL!!!
