meal plans for this week

last week i made some sushi, i had not made any myself in years. it came out like i expected: it didn't look too perfect since i was out of practice, but it definitely tasted delicious. my hubby enjoyed it too, that was most important.

what i used as "filling" was carrots, celery, shrimp, ginger, sesame seeds. nothing too fancy, it doesn't need to be. one of the essentials when eating sushi for us is anyway having lots of soy sauce and wasabi to dip it in. i forgot though that a fresh tube of wasabi is by far stronger than an old one... whew!!! if you'd been around you would've been amused by our reactions to the 'wasabi-shocks', the "whoa"s, instantly cleared sinuses, popping eyes, tears, and running noses.

do you have any cooking or meal plans yet for this week?

i think i might make some more sushi! it's so healthy, fun to make, and truly yummy.
possibly also some more pizza baguettes that i made last week, they're good to prepare in advance. i know, my meal plan doesn't sound very creative - just copying last week's successes - but i like being on the safe side. maybe i'll try one new recipe to mix it up a little.

Tonight I'm just doing fish with vegetables, but tomorrow night is a family favourite - spinach & ricotta cannelloni, and the next night might be Thai chicken burgers - yum! We also love a bit of homemade sushi :-) xx

Sushi is one of my greatest weaknesses. I love spicy tuna rolls.

This week we will be eating stuffed cabbage rolls. It is supposed to dip into the low 40s at night so here we go!

I have become spoiled and can pick up sushi at the market for a very good price. It is something I buy as a treat for myself since I am the only one who eat it in my home.
On my menu this week for my guy's is quinoa patties, homemade mac and cheese with tiny meatballs [my guys inhale it] and shrimp burgers.
xx

Mmm, I love sushi with veggies in it. You should try using avocado! It's the best in sushi!!

@ sylvia:
i used to have a mat at mama and papa's house. it worked really well. now i don't have one and it is much harder like this, the seaweed rips easily without mat. so i'll have to get one at the asian store soon!

@ everybody:
thanks for all your great meal ideas! makes me hungry although i just ate. i'll have to check out kelly's thai chicken burgers and using avocado in my next sushi as alicia suggested!

Mjammmm, your sushi looks great! I think I'm going to make chestnut-mushroom soup. At our market there is a great stand specialized in mushrooms, honey, eggs and spices. And it is the season. So mushroom soup it will be!

Hi Simona! Thanks for your comment and your link! because it was very interesting to me! Also, looooove wasabi! Sushi just doesn't taste right without it. Props for making sushi at home!

Oh looks delishous! You really made me get sushi cravings right now! And ginger, oh I could it pickled ginger like candy! Mmm! I think I have to by me some this week, I'm to impatient to make sushi on my own...

Otherwise I don't have any meal plans, me and Joi really suck in planning food until just the time before we are getting hungry... so it often ends up with couscous salad with avocado, chick peas, zuccini, mozzarella and what else we have in the fridge... but it's one of my fav meals so I don't mind..:)
