the cup of coffee that will always stay fresh

this past week i was looking for some inspiration, wanting to paint something i had never pained yet. although i had drawn a cup similar to this one before, i had used color pencils previously and was curious how it would come out using acrylics. looking over my sketches i though i should give the coffee cup a try.

freshly brewed cup of coffee painting on canvas, 14 x 11 inches  - SOLD -

really it could also be any type of hot beverage, to me it could also be hot cocoa, cappuccino, espresso, etc.

to infuse the painting with some delicious and elegant sparkle, i incorporated metallic copper paint with the browns and mocha tones. on account of the subtle copper shine it feels to me like the steam coming alive. maybe one day i'll figure out how to best capture the sparkle of metallic paint in a photo. does anybody have tips on that?

well, i've almost finished my cup of morning coffee (yes, okay, the painting does not not always substitute the real deal, at least not this morning) and i'll head off to weekend activities.
the forecast is predicting rain and t-storms for today so i'm not sure what we're going to do in the evening.

what's your weather going to be like this weekend? do you have any outdoor activities planned?

have a happy, sunny weekend, everybody!

our weekend was okay.. weatherwise compared to Friday. jeff and spencer went to Klövensteen yesterday. and we had a little bike ride today, despite of some rain and playground after that. it's not summer weather, really. but it doesn't help to complain...

I really like it, I love the shadows around the cup as well, nothing beats a cuppa for inspiration right?
